I used to think we’d see a cybernetic revolution before we’d see great advances in genetics. As a computer scientist, I tend to view the body as an organic computer with innumerable subsystems, unreadable code that’s full of bugs and old/redundant/deprecated code that is completely undocumented. In modern development, many developers would opt to start from scratch rather than re-open that kind of codebase. Fortunately for us though, there are many scientists out there doing just that and paving the way for many more to follow suit. This entry from Kurzegesagt gives a very optimistic view of what’s in store for us in the upcoming decades.
