Probiotics
Probiotics are the microorganisms that live inside of us and, well, pretty much all living animals, that help improve our lives. They aid in the digesting of food and the absorption of nutrients and minerals. With increased amounts of probiotics within the body, scientists have shown that the immune system also improves.
One of the items I’ve been somewhat curious about is, what other kinds of probiotics are out there or were out there? Throughout our lives our bodies are in a constant battle between degradation and repair. As we get older, this battle begins to turn towards degradation as some “repairs” go undone. But, what if this didn’t have to be so? What if there was a bacteria out there that could aid us in the “repairs.” Something that could effectively cancel out the degradation to the point where we could extend our life expectancy well beyond what it is right now.
I don’t think it’s too far out of the question. We’ve already seen the studies byCynthia Kenyon who discovered a gene in nematodes that when active, extended the life of the nematode by 6 fold. 6 FOLD! For humans, that would mean living to be about 420 years old. Living to be that old was once thought only to be a biblical story, but now modern science is showing that it could be plausible.
Admittedly, what Kenyon did was gene manipulation/mutation and not probiotics. However, if there can be a Methuselah or Hercules gene, I think there could also have been a time when a bacteria existed that aided humans greatly.
The time for amazing scientific discoveries is upon us,
